Day Trip Mount Meru Climb

Our day trip Mount Meru climb package is designed for guest who have limited time and have no interests of reaching the summit of the second highest Mountain in Tanzania. You are to get soaked to the culture of people living in the up-side of the mountain while viewing the breathe taking greenery and some animals. It all starts from Tengeru Cultural Center 12km’s from Arusha Town in the slopes of the mountain. Mount Meru one day trekking lasts for seven hours you will cover 18kms going up and down.

Even just hiking and camping on the slopes or visiting the ash cone in the much lower crater are walking safaris that I can warmly recommend. You will be amazed by the amount of wildlife you can find on this mountain, the vegetation is stunning all the way, and Meru simply isn’t as overrun as Kilimanjaro is. (For people who are doing walking safaris on the lower slopes or in other areas of Arusha National Park there are several campgrounds. And for those wanting to do a safari in style there are a couple of very comfortable lodges just outside Arusha National Park

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha National Park

Early in the morning, normally around 7am, you are collected from your hotel with a packed lunch and transferred to Arusha National Park. At Momella Gate we complete registration formalities and collect our Ranger before driving to the very end of the road to Kitoto View Point.  From here we trek for up to 4 hours through the Afromontane forest and into the crater before heading back to the car. Now you can take your time, overlooking the outstanding views and taking in the morning’s events.

In the afternoon you have the option to either call it a day and be transferred home or to spend a bit more time and wind your way through the national park (at no additional cost) before heading back. Upon arrival, you will be met by a representative of Enjoy Kili Ltd to congratulate you and answer any other questions you may have.
